Montauk Climate, an investment firm dedicated to building and funding technology companies at the forefront of climate, infrastructure, and the energy transition, has appointed Kirk Hourdajian as Partner and Head of Venture. In this role, Hourdajian will help lead and accelerate Montauk Climate's investment efforts.

"Climate change is the defining challenge and opportunity of our time. Montauk’s unique vision is to build a comprehensive investment platform that supports a generation of transformative, profitable climate technology companies. I’m thrilled to join this team that is bringing a startup mentality to backing the most visionary climate ideas and founders,'' said Hourdajian.

Hourdajian's career spans the intersection of climate and investing. At Vista Equity Partners, Hourdajian served as the first-ever head of Climate and Impact, where he led the design, implementation, and leadership of climate and impact investing and value creation initiatives across $100 billion in assets under management.

Before Vista, Hourdajian was an early member of the Sustainability Team at TPG. His efforts demonstrated the positive financial impact of sustainability and climate initiatives across hundreds of investments and contributed to the launch of The Rise Fund. Hourdajian also held senior roles at PwC, where he built early impact investing and climate programs for PE and VC firms, and at the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) where he partnered with The Carlyle Group and KKR on sustainability operations and investment initiatives.

Philip Krim, Co-founder, Montauk Climate: "Kirk is joining at a critical time for both climate tech and Montauk Climate. Kirk’s background in climate and investing, coupled with his track record of implementing climate and impact strategies across multi-billion dollar portfolios, will be instrumental as we develop our funding strategies and deploy capital to build and scale category-defining climate tech companies. His experience demonstrating the financial benefits of sustainability efforts aligns with our mission to create high-impact, profitable solutions in energy transition and climate infrastructure."

Montauk Climate launched in March 2024 and is committed to building and investing in high-impact climate tech companies. The team specializes in finding and developing technologies that speed the transition to electrification, digitization, and sustainable energy.

Montauk Climate leverages deep sector expertise and a network of advisors for idea generation, deal execution, and talent sourcing. The advisory board includes industry leaders such as Adam Braun, Kiran Bhatraju, Corey Capasso, and Dr. John Clippinger.
